I am a 24 year old, who is pretty self sufficient. I pay a ton in student loans every month, I pay rent, my phone bill, credit card bills, my car lease and everything in between. I've been trying (and I need to get better) about cutting costs and saving money for my future. Because of that, a gym membership just seems too costly to me. I don't know about where you are, but gyms around me cost a pretty penny!
But last year when I began Weight Watchers and starting to make healthier choices, I knew I should try a gym to just learn more about what I can do at home to get healthier. My best friend and I found a stellar deal on Groupon to a local gym for 1 month. I want to say it was maybe $30 for unlimited gym use and classes. It was such a great deal, we couldn't say no!
We went at least 5 times a week, did warm ups, stretched and usually took a class. I loved the cardio kickboxing, it was fun and because of that, it didn't necessarily feel like I was working out. But I took with me some great ideas on squatting and kicks that I could easily do at home.
Our month was quickly over and neither of us could afford to start a membership so we took working out back to our homes. Now I do squats or abs or lifting dumbbells in my room while I watch TV. I get ideas from Pinterest or I do workout videos which I really enjoy. You can even find free ones online on sites like popsugar.com!
But now I need to get back into better working out habits! I'm going to sit down and make a plan of attack, figuring out which days I should focus on which part of my body or choosing between doing cardio or yoga. I need to switch it up so I don't get bored and discouraged! So stick with me for when I reveal my game plan!
My game plan will even include some incentives. One being, for every time I work out, I put $1 in a jar. When I get to $100 I treat myself to something nice, whether it's a mani/pedi or some shopping! If I work hard, I should reward myself!
What's your plan of action when it comes to making a workout routine?
