Every year usually begins with a resolution... am I right?
When the beginning of 2013 rolled around a year ago, I found myself going down the cliche road of promising to lose weight and get healthy.
Let me tell you a little about my journey. I have been a comfortable size 10 probably since college. I am extremely petite, not even hitting 5 feet tall and I have hourglass curves that I've grown to love.
My body and I have always had a good relationship, growing up I have always felt comfortable in my own skin and I let my confidence show. It wasn't until the winter of last year when I started to feel otherwise.
My size 10 jeans started to get tight around the holidays, and I blamed it on the festivities and the food. I sneakily got a few size 12 jeans to feel more comfortable. January hit and all of the sudden the size 12 jeans were extremely snug. I looked at myself in the mirror and I didn't feel like me and that confidence I had, was nowhere to be found.
It was at that point that I actually made a resolution for 2013 that I planned to stick to, to get back to a size 10 and to get into healthier habits. My goal was never to lose an obscene amount of weight, it was to get healthy and feel comfortable in my own skin again.
I made changes in my lifestyle, and by the time May rolled around, I was buying all new clothes, including jeans in a size 8! I look at myself now and I love what I see.
I see my gorgeous curves and a healthier glow in my skin from changing the way I ate. I don't have rock hard abs (or any abdominal definition at all) and I'm cool with that. I don't notice that my thighs still touch when I walk and my arms jiggle. I see an improved version of me and I am still proud that I was able to accomplish more than I wanted in less than a year!
I'm planning on getting back on track this year. When the holidays roll around, I don't love to watch every single thing I'm eating. Instead I enjoy the company I'm surrounded by. But after the holidays and my trip to Disney, my size 8's are starting to feel slightly snug.
It's time to get back on track with the healthy habits I was doing so well with! Don't you worry, I'll let you know what I plan on doing and how I'm doing! Come with me as I continue my journey to getting to be my healthiest self, I hope you all can join me and share your stories!
So here's to 2014, a year where we all find our love & confidence for ourselves and figure out a way of living where we can be our healthiest and happiest!
