Welcome to our blog!
See what's brewing!
When I started working full time in my office a year and a half ago, I kept a box in my drawer filled with snacks. At the time, I thought it was a perfect idea. I'd get a craving, so I'd go into my box and pull out a bag of cookies or candy. Seemed to be perfect, but now I realize it's not.
One of the first things I stopped doing when I decided to cut back was to stop refilling my snack box with what I had been filling it with. I realized that if I have food accessible to me, any kind of food (except for meat since I'm a vegetarian), I'll eat it. I found I didn't necessarily have to be hungry or craving it in order for me snack. Reckless snacking was not helping me in any way.
I still keep snacks at my desk for days when I'm a little bit more hungry than usual. But my snacks I store are things like sunflower seeds which surprisingly are very filling. Or organic applesauce and homemade protein bars. They're all things that fill me up and I enjoy eating!
You know how they always tell you never to go grocery shopping when you're hungry? I decided you shouldn't pack your lunch when you're hungry either! I try
my hardest, and sometimes I fail, to pack my lunch the night before after
I've eaten dinner. I'll pack left overs, carrots, celery, tomatoes and
fruit and put my whole lunch box in the refrigerator. If I'm not hungry,
I'm not thinking about adding Oreo's or other snack into my bag. It also
saves me time in the morning! If I don't have to worry about packing lunch, I don't have to rush. Or f I'm running late, I won't need to spend the extra money to buy lunch. Saves me time, money and ingesting things that I'm trying to avoid.
